Concept drawings of the FACETS Stage II wafer scale system mount: The post-processed wafer will be mounted on the printed circuit board (PCB) carrying support electronics (standard FPGA and custom made "DNC" (Digital Network Chip)) on individual component boards. 12 FPGA / DNC boards are placed on the complete system to provide the needed communication bandwidth for 'layer 2' connections (for system configuration and for digital spike transmission, e.g. to other wafer systems).
